How to Use the Machine Coffee Corner
All major chains sell cheap machine coffee (¥100-180). You buy a cup-sized ticket at the register, then dispense it yourself.
1. Buy at the register
Ask for coffee by size: "register de hotto koohii o hitotsu" — or grab the bar-code cup sleeve from the shelf and scan it like a product.
2. Find the machine
Locate the self-serve coffee machine, usually near the register with cup dispensers stacked beside it.
3. Prepare the cup
Take a cup, attach the sleeve (for hot), and place it under the spout. The sleeve keeps it from burning your hand.
4. Select and dispense
Press the button for your drink — hot/ice, black or with milk ( cafe au lait / latte). Press once, wait for the pour to finish, take the cup.
Tips
- Iced coffee cups get a plastic dome lid from the lid dispenser — hot cups get a flat lid.
- Milk and sugar sit nearby if you chose black and change your mind.
- The machine cleans itself briefly after each pour — wait for the "please wait" light.
